JULIO MANRIQUE

The architect
by David Creig

The young Scottish playwright David Creig can already claim to have an important work under his belt. So much so that in 2006 his play “The Architect” was turned into a film starring, among others, the marvellous Isabella Rossellini and directed by Matt Tauber. In the film, the architect Leo Black, around whom the work is centred, was embodied by Anthony LaPaglia. Now it´s Julio Manrique who is in the director´s chair, showing the professional rise of a idolized man whose principles, as well as his family, will crumble when his desires and reality clash, like a tempestuous whirlwind in the sky. A new tack for Manrique in his solid career as a director on the Barcelona scene, always proffering texts full of the contradictions that concern us all. So you are welcome to live the rise and fall of Leo Black, an idealistic and idolised architect. His fabulous visions are crumbling along with his family, in the light of reality.
